Dekalb County Schools

Exceptional Education

Our Mission

The mission of Freedom Middle School is based upon the conviction that all students can learn. This is based upon exposure to curriculum and instruction that addresses the Dekalb County Core Curriculum at all grade levels.

We recognize that learning is the result of a strong partnership of parents, teachers, paraprofessionals and the community, as students are challenged to become active participants in the quest for excellence. Our goal is to ensure a safe, creative, stimulating and caring environment, which promotes self-esteem, sound character, responsibility and respect for diversity. This will enable students to become knowledgeable, skillful, life-long learners who are contributing citizens
in our changing society.

We expect the best from our students and will give no less of ourselves.

Our Goals

  • To ensure that all children with disabilities who reside in Freedom have available to them a free appropriate public education and related services designed to meet their unique needs and prepare them for continuing education, employment, and independent living in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
  • To ensure that qualified students with disabilities are provided access to all of the activities and programs available to them.
